This 3/4 lb chunk of CNC'd brass is an elegant tool for dampening your snare drum. The weight of the brass, plus the friction of a leather insert gives a crisp dampening, without killing the tone and expression of your drum. The Snareweight anchors to your hoop with a magnet, and the leather insert can be swapped out for more control of your sound. This dampener works particularly well at reigning in low-to-mid tunings, and adds about 2-3 db of compression to the drum, which can be hugely beneficialy in recording settings.
