In 1951, caught between the end of the "Broadcaster" name and the dawn of the "Telecaster," Fender shipped guitars with no model name on the headstock at all.... and a legend was born. Informed by a telegram from Gretsch that the "Broadkaster" name had been registered for a drum kit, Fender began clipping the "Broadcaster" name from headstock decals until the new Telecaster decals were delivered.
