Collector's beware!!! This is a fantastic player-grade 1960s Epiphone Riviera. It has quite a few quirks but it plays great. This one's for the gigging and recording musician.
Now for the fun stuff:
-There is a 6"x3" slab of wood on the back of the guitar that appears to have been some kind of repair at some point, but it is finished nicely and looks as professionally done as it can.
-The serial number has worn down and we can't be certain exactly what it says. However, the tremotone tailpiece indicates it was likely manufactured in 1967 or 1968.
-The Epiphone logo has mysteriously vanished from the headstock. We don't know how this happened.
-Original tremolo arm is not included.
-The ABR bridge is aftermarket.
-The pots appear to be 1990s WD pots.
-We replaced the tuners with period accurate drop-ins (there are drill holes where replacement tuners were that are not visible).
-Frets appear to be original. They are flat and have some wear but the guitar still intonates well!
-The wood on the neck has been sanded.
-Comes with non-orginal hardshell case.
Despite all these indiosyncracies, this guitar plays and sounds great! The royal tan looks stunning. The original mini-humbuckers have all the chime, growl, and acoustical sweetness you'll ever need. The bones and soul of the guitar is all there. This one can do it all!
