Have you ever wanted to play an instrument? Wondering how it feels to be in a band? Whatever your experience or ability, we are here to help you reach your musical goals. In addition to private lessons for guitar, pedal steel guitar, bass, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, drums, piano, violin, viola, cello, saxophone, clarinet, flute, trumpet, trombone, harmonica, voice, music theory and songwriting, Twin Town Guitars also provides a variety of group-based and band-style music programs which include live stage performance opportunities.

Classes for All Ages


Private Lessons

From beginning to advanced, traditional to experimental, we offer on-site lessons in comfortable studios for guitar, pedal steel guitar, bass, banjo, ukulele, drums, piano, mandolin, violin, viola, cello, saxophone, clarinet, flute, trumpet, trombone, harmonica, voice, music theory and songwriting. Lessons are available seven days a week. We also produce winter and spring recitals at relaxed and local venues that are exciting for everyone!

Sampler Session

Not sure where to begin? Join us for the private lesson Sampler Session that includes 2 Bass, 2 Drum, 2 Guitar, and 2 Keyboard Lessons. You don't need to own these instruments to attend, and at the end of the class, we'll provide you with a recommendation and options for continuing lessons with your chosen instrument.

Age: 5 Years - Up

Tuition: $200 (Eight, 30-Minute, Weekly Lessons)


Band Buddy Duos
If you and a friend or a parent play the same instrument and would like to take lessons together, this is the class for you. The Band Buddy Duos program offers six lessons with a high level of instructor attention for you and your buddy, and is available for guitar, bass, banjo, ukulele, drums, mandolin, violin, viola, cello, saxophone, clarinet, flute, trombone and trumpet. (Students supply their own instrument, or instruments can be purchased at Twin Town Guitars.)

Age: 4 Years - Up

Date/Time: Six, weekly, 30-minute lessons, scheduled based on your request and studio/teacher availability

Classes for Youth


U is for Ukulele

During this 6-week group session full of laughter and learning, discover the joy and simplicity of playing ukulele together. No previous music experience is required, just your ukulele, your child or grandchild, and you. (Ukuleles are available for purchase at Twin Town Guitars starting at $30.)

Ukesters (U is for Ukulele Part 2)

This six-week long class is a continuation of U is for Ukulele. We'll learn more chords, more songs, and we'll sing and laugh. We'll also perform for family and friends at the end of the session. (Prerequisite: U is for Ukulele)

Age: 4 to 6 Years (Pre-K through Kindergarten)

Beat Band

In this six-week long class for beginners, have a blast learning about rhythm and basic drumming technique, all while playing on anything from trash cans to pots and pans! This introduction to the wild world of percussion gives students an opportunity to explore the meaning of a beat - and then some. Also included in this session is a pair of drumsticks, and a live performance. See Beat Band in Action!

Youth Band
Have fun rocking out with a band! Pick a band name, practice songs, try a new instrument, and learn the skills you need to perform on stage. This eight-week session concludes with a live performance at a local venue!

Traveling Musical Petting Zoo

It is no secret that music experience supports the development of children’s social and emotional growth. Additionally, studies show that participation in music can have a significant impact on improving spatial reasoning, pattern recognition, memory, and literacy skills. We also believe that making instruments and music accessible to children, helps spark creativity in magical and unexpected ways, so we are extremely excited to offer a hands-on music program for students of all ages. The Traveling Musical Petting Zoo, specifically tailored to meet the needs of your lesson schedule and age group, introduces students to the drums, guitar, bass guitar and keyboard, along with various handheld percussion instruments – all at your location! Presented by Twin Town Guitars Music Instructors, the Traveling Musical Petting Zoo includes: explanations of instrument parts and function, demonstration of the instruments, a group sing along, hands-on instrument time, and sounds of laughter and faces filled with wonder - guaranteed at no extra charge!

Musical Theater Camp at Bryant-Lake Bowl *New

Join experienced music teacher and theater director, Allison Raney, at the amazing Bryant-Lake Bowl Theater, in this musical theater skills class for youth! Through games and exercises, students will develop stage presence, self-esteem, presentation skills, vocal techniques, audition prep skills, creative movement, and expressive choreography. Explore story-telling, improvisation and character development while learning what it takes to put on a show. Family and friends are invited to a final performance too!

Age: 3rd Grade through 8th Grade

Summer Sessions Youth Band Camp 2015 - Session I & II

In this exciting, two-week long summer camp, students work with instructors to develop their skills as musicians working in a group. Daily lessons include; small group instruction on drums, bass, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, piano/keyboard, voice, microphone work, and overall stage presence. Students also work on songwriting, improvising and performing. At the end of our two weeks, we’ll put on a final performance for family and friends!

Girl Powered Band Camp 2015 - Session I & II

We've got a new summer band camp just for girls! In this fun and friendship building, two-week long camp, girls work with instructor Allison Raney to develop and hone their skills as musicians. Focusing on improvisation, stage presence and songwriting, the group concludes with a live performance for friends and family. See Girl Powered Rock in Action!

Teen Band
Bring your instrument and rock in a band! Learn how to start a band, how to rehearse, how to select songs, and about performance skills. Even try a new instrument if you like. This eight-week session concludes with an exciting live performance at a local venue.

Seminars & Workshops

Suzuki Violin Workshop for Youth Students

Students reinforce the points learned in private lessons which may include rhythm, intonation, technique, note reading, and sight reading. They also learn to play as an ensemble by playing pieces they've already learned in Suzuki books. This group is intended to form a community where the students feel inspired to learn more about music and to grow as musicians. (Some previous experience required.)

Vocal Looping Seminar for Youth Students

Make some creative vocals happen with a looping station! Local songwriter and performer, Stacy Berkner, will show you how looping stations work with your voice, and she will give you a chance to play with a looping station too.

The Creative Process of Songwriting

If you wonder how songwriters shape their musical and lyrical ideas into a finished piece, or if you have some ideas of your own that you would like to develop, then this two-part, group class is for you! Join Ben Glaros as he discusses the creative process of songwriting, the elements of classic song form, and walks through the process of writing a song – with your help! In addition, this class includes one half-hour individual session, scheduled at your convenience, where Ben will help you on your own journey into the world of songwriting. All musical styles and skill levels are welcome, and participants are invited to perform an original song at a Twin Town Guitars Showcase!

Vocal Improvisation Seminar

Creative opportunity for your voice! Local songwriter and performer, Stacy Berkner leads this vocal seminar, which emphasizes improvisation skills. Develop strong warm-up technique, and improve ear training while performing vocal melodies and tones. Preparation for recording studio work and live performance improv skills are also included.

Ukeshop

So you just got a ukulele, and you've learned a few chords. Now what? Take this crash course and you'll be playing Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" in no time. Plus more!

Reading Rhythm

When reading sheet music, even simple rhythms can often end up looking complicated and intimidating. Starting with the basics, we'll learn about breaking down rhythms into manageable pieces - even those pesky dots and triplets. We'll talk about how to develop a positive relationship with your metronome, and how to successfully take the notes from the page to your instrument. This seminar will improve your rhythm no matter what instrument you play!

Music Theory Basics

This workshop will cover the theory of major and minor scales, keys, and how they can be used to build chords. If you've ever wondered what a 7th chord is, this class is for you! Music reading knowledge is not necessary for this class.

Ear Training Basics

Develop your ear by learning how to recognize the intervals between two notes. We will use familiar melodies as examples and have some fun with it by playing "Ear Training Bingo."

Learn traditional jazz tunes and improvisational concepts in a fun and relaxed group environment. Listen to and analyze famous jazz recordings, and take a solo and learn how to write it down. All instruments welcome. Show off your swinging new skills at final performance.

Adult Jam

Blues & Rock Group Technique

Jeff Krause teaches common blues and rock styles, and how to get the most out of your rehearsals or jam setting. Explore common grooves, chord progressions (including I-IV-V progressions & variations), improv solo techniques, and how to lead a band. Emphasis is placed on working with a new group that has had little or no time together. Intermediate and advanced students on any instrument and songwriters are encouraged to join.

Uke Group!

We got a fever, and the only prescription is more ukulele! In this 6-week, group session, learn how to care for and tune your ukulele, as well as how to amaze your family and friends with your mad, new musical talent. Each week we meet, we will build on the previous lesson by adding new skills, chords, and songs. But wait, that’s not all! We will complete the class with a group performance at a local venue. (No previous music experience is required, and ukuleles are available for purchase at Twin Town Guitars starting at $30.)

"It's Now Or Never" Program

If you are kicking yourself for not picking up that guitar you’ve had for years, or wish you would have continued taking piano lessons when you were younger, now is the time to get down to business! The "It's Now or Never” Program at Twin Town includes four guitar, bass, banjo, drums, piano, mandolin, or voice lessons, a free loaner instrument (with deposit), and that amazing feeling of accomplishing something you always wanted to do. At the end of the program, our instructors will help you transition into additional lessons, or will pat you on the back, say goodbye and well done! The "It's Now or Never" Program makes a gift too!!!!
